Angelina’s Twins Up the Baby Bidding War
June 5, 2008 by Cherie
So the baby bidding war continues.
First it was Christina Aguilera who received $1.5 million for the first picture of her son, Max.
Then J-Lo got $6 million for photos of her twins, Max and Emme.
Now Angelina Jolie is being offered $15 million for photos of her twins.
Apparently there’s a bidding war between People and OK!. And that’s just for now. Will it go higher?
It could, especially given the fact that everyone is dying to see the new babies who will undoubtedly be as cute as little Shiloh.
I’ve written about this subject in the past, and I’m pretty neutral on celebs getting money for baby photos. But I can’t imagine that news organizations like People and OK! will really make any money on the deal if they are doling out such a large amount. I think like all trends, this one will probably fade away.

The First Pictures of J-Lo’s Babies

Jennifer Lopez shows her babies for the first time on the cover of People. Click here to see the gorgeous photo!
The issue is on the stands today, and “features 12 pages of new photos of the pop star with husband Marc Anthony and their 1-month-old bundles of joy inside their Long Island home and nursery.”
Jen looks gorgeous, of course, and the two little bundles are happily sleeping on her chest. Aww….
People Wins the J-Lo Baby Photo Prize
February 29, 2008 by Cherie
There’s been much speculation about J-Lo’s baby pics, but now it looks like People Magazine is the definite “winner” of the photo prize. People seems to be the common place for celebrities to debut their new offspring, the most famous perhaps being Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s photos with Shiloh.
US Weekly editor Janice Min tells USA Today that:
“Celebrities are in the business of making money. They have their image, which they use to make money on almost every aspect of their life. … This is just another revenue stream for them.”
For their part, People says the original figures of $4 to $6 million are “grossly inaccurate.”
Is it just me or does this whole “getting money” thing really rub you the wrong way? I understand that celebs are trying to ward off the stalkaratzi and therefore they just release pictures themselves. I also understand that if someone is going to put a price on their baby’s head by trying to get a photo, that they’d want to at least do some good with the money and either donate it or quite frankly, keep it and put it in a trust fund for the kid.
But by the same token, I feel super icky when I hear about money and babies. It’s wrong. Isn’t there a better way?
