Angelina’s Twins Up the Baby Bidding War

June 5, 2008 by Cherie

So the baby bidding war continues.

First it was Christina Aguilera who received $1.5 million for the first picture of her son, Max.

Then J-Lo got $6 million for photos of her twins, Max and Emme.

Now Angelina Jolie is being offered $15 million for photos of her twins.

Apparently there’s a bidding war between People and OK!. And that’s just for now. Will it go higher?

It could, especially given the fact that everyone is dying to see the new babies who will undoubtedly be as cute as little Shiloh.

I’ve written about this subject in the past, and I’m pretty neutral on celebs getting money for baby photos. But I can’t imagine that news organizations like People and OK! will really make any money on the deal if they are doling out such a large amount. I think like all trends, this one will probably fade away.

J-Lo Consults With a Color Therapist

March 6, 2008 by Cherie

What do you think of “color therapy”? It’s when people think certain colors are more apt to make you smarter, make you hungrier, etc. According to InfoPlease, black is supposed to mean power, red is an “emotionally intense” color, purple is the color of royalty… and on and on.

When it comes to decorating a baby’s room, I know a lot of people that like to put in colors that stimulate the baby’s interest. Some pick more muted tones so the room is more soothing, some choose vibrant colors, and some a mix of the two.

Jennifer Lopez turned to the importance of color when it came to decorating the kids rooms. And let’s face it - she loves color and fashion so is this any kind of surprise? She reportedly talked to a “color therapist” to find out which colors would give her babes the best possible time in the room. (I never realized you could make a living as a “color therapist” but apparently you can.)

Fametastic says, “She had the nursery painted a beautiful aquamarine and light blue - colours which are supposed to have intelligence boosting properties.”

I’m not sure if the babies are in the same room (and I’d guess that each little pumpkin has his and her own) but I’d say aquamarine and light blue would be perfect for the new babes to sleep in. Besides that, with all the attention they’re getting, you just know they won’t have time to examine their new digs. They’re probably being passed from grandparent to aunt to mommy and back again.

Jennifer Lopez Paranoid About Her Babies Safety?

March 4, 2008 by Cherie

Every new mom is a bit nervous when it comes to caring for her children. But a few reports are saying that J-Lo has gone a wee bit bonkers over their safety. The Chicago Sun Times says she’s hired “round-the-clock bodyguards (six, for each child)” and at a cost of $600,000 a year. Not only that, but she makes “visitors disinfect and don a surgical mask before going near her offspring.”

Ever the cynic, I say this: Let’s break this down, shall we? I’ve had several friends that, upon having their children, wanted everyone and their mother to wash their hands before getting anywhere near their beloved offspring. When the babes got a bit older, they relaxed more. But every single mother I have ever known has acted like their particular child is the center of the world. And they are. To them. It’s only when a parent can’t hold a conversation about anything BUT their child (after the acceptable love-in period of time when the kid first comes along) that they become annoying.

In other words, I’m willing to give J-Lo the benefit of the doubt on the hand santizing thing. (I’m a little paranoid about germs and hand washing myself even under the most normal of circumstances.)

And the body guard thing?

Well, let’s think about this. She’s famous. She’s got nutballs all over the world trying to snap photos of her. She’s wanted these babes a long time and she ain’t about to let something stupid happen. I say $600,000 a year for safety and piece of mind is nothing if you’ve got the bucks that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony do. Besides that, I’m willing to bet those guards do more than just stand around. J-Lo will keep them busy.

The Sun Times goes on to say:

“There’s also been a purchase of what’s being called ”a lifetime supply” of surgical masks — to be worn by those coming in contact with the newborns.”

How much exactly is a lifetime of surgical masks, do you think? A million masks? A trillion masks? Is it even possible to get that many masks into one location?

Okay, the surgical mask thing might be a little much. (Even for cold and flu season!)
