Don’t Panic! We’ve Got Just the Book for You!

November 6, 2008 by Cherie

I absolutely adored this book, The Panic Years. It was funny and charming, and yet had good info if all your friends are up and getting married while you sit on the sidelines.

The Panis Years “will show you how you can win the race to the altar by changing your tactics from Panicked to Proactive—and keeping your sense of humor along the way. You will learn how to:

Cope with Panic by Proxy—pushy friends and parents.
Successfully hunt for PFs (Potential Fiancés).
Project hotness and desirability when you have neither but want both.
Set—and stick to—dating time lines.
Avoid being bitter at your friends’ weddings—and ruining all their pictures with that scowl on your face.
Get the ring and the proposal and seal the deal!”

To find out more about the book and get a look at the fabulous cover, be sure to check the author’s website. In the meantime, I’ve got one copy of this book to give away to a lucky reader of our blog.

To enter the contest, leave a comment on this post by Thursday, December 4th. I’ll choose a winner at random and announce the lucky guy or gal the next day.

Be Like J-Lo: Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff

November 5, 2008 by Cherie

Fashion Group International Presents The 25th Annual Night Of Stars

Jennifer Lopez really has found peace in her life, hasn’t she?

It’s not just about the money or the fame, but she seems to have finally found a balanced life with her family and career.

So I thought, why not take some inspiration from J-Lo and have a giveaway that reflects a simplified life. What better way to do that than with the book Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff by Richard Carlson, PhD. The subtitle of this book says it all: Simple Ways to Keep the Little Things From Taking Over Your Life. For a full description and photo of the book, click this link.

To win, leave a comment below with one way you help keep things simple in your life. Leave your comment by Sunday, November 16th and I’ll choose a winner at random and announce them the next day.

I’m Sure J-Lo Even Needs a Fast Recipe From Time-to-Time

October 11, 2008 by Cherie

Don’t we all need a fast and easy meal once in a while? I know it really helps me during the week if I have a handy recipe I can just pull out and make a one-pot meal. And as I said in the title of this post, I’m sure even Jennifer Lopez makes a fast and easy one-pot recipe every once in a while. (Or maybe her cook does.)

To that end, I have a great giveaway for all you fabulous JloStalker readers. It’s a book called Simple One-Pot Stews, and as the cover says, several “delicious, satisfying stews from arond the world, for the stove top or slow cooker.” More information is available on google books.

I’ve thumbed through the book and thought there were a couple great recipes in here myself. Of course, these books aren’t for me, they are for YOU.

I have two copies of Simple One-Pot Stews to giveaway. To enter, leave a message on this post by Thursday, October 23rd. I’ll choose two winners at random and announce them the next day. Good luck!

Think J-Lo Is a Beatles Fan?

October 2, 2008 by Cherie

Jennifer Lopez Launches Her Deseo For Men Fragrance

I can’t help wondering if Jennifer Lopez is a Beatles fan. I’m sure she must be, (because really, who ISN’T a Beatles fan!) My thought is this: Since we already know J-Lo is a fan of American Idol, she must have loved the beginning of last season when they did two weeks of songs from the Lennon/McCartney songbook. And if she wasn’t before, then she became a fan of the Beatles from that point forward.

Why am I trying to connect J-Lo to the Beatles, you ask? Because I’ve got a fabulous prize for any Beatles fan. It’s a copy of the book Ticket to Ride: Inside the Beatle’s 1964 and 1965 Tours that changed the world by Larry Kane.

According to the author’s website:

“Ticket to Ride recounts broadcast journalist Larry Kane’s travels with the Beatles during their first North American tour. The book provides an intimate look at the Fab Four and contains original interview recordings with the band coducted during the tour.”

Did you see the part about original interview recordings? That’s worth the price of admission alone! The book also has a lovely forward by Dick Clark.

If you’d like to win, leave a message on this post about which Beatles song you think Jennifer Lopez should sing. It can be ANY Beatles song. There are quite a few in my mind I think she’d be great at singing, but I don’t want to sway you! I’ll add my two cents after you have each had a chance to add yours.

Post your comment by Thursday, October 16th. I’ll choose a random winner and announce the lucky guy or gal the next day.
