Remix Videos: Ain’t It Funny
One thing I really like about Jennifer Lopez is that when she does a remix it sounds TOTALLY different than the original. Even the videos are different.
With that in mind, I’d heard J-Lo say in an interview that the concept behind “Ain’t It Funny” was fate. In the original version of the video, we see Jen stand at a fork in the road (literally) and see how her life unfolds as she sits down with a fortune teller.
J-Lo jumped at the chance to work with director Herb Ritts, and the effect was something new and completely different than other videos being made at that time. Ritts used a sepia tone to film the shots which helps create the mini-movie with Jen and her love interest played by Eduardo Verástegui. In the middle of the song, Jen and Eduardo dance flamenco style.
According to one source, Jen said, “she had written the song while filming The Wedding Planner. The song was originally intended for the soundtrack, however didn’t make the final cut.” The song ended up on J-Lo’s second album, “J. Lo,” which we gave away here in a recent giveaway contest.
The video showcases Jen’s ability to act, sing, and dance.
In the remix version of “Ain’t It Funny,” J-Lo performs with Ja Rule. The remix video helped make “Ain’t It Funny - the Remix” Jen’s third number one single.
Much like the video and song “I’m Real,” the original sounds completely different than the remix. The colors are vibrant, and most fans agree Jennifer looks great with the makeup and hair of this style. I’m always a fan of anything she does with Ja Rule, so this video is one of my favorites:
