Avoiding Baby Kidnapping
In a recent post I talked about the kidnapping drill that North Shore University Hospital did recently. The rumor was that the drill was all part of “J-Lo prep” since she is reportedly going to deliver there. But a recent article on Newsday.com says many hospitals frequently do these types of drills since child abduction has become a more commonplace occurance of late.
A nurse at Stony Brook University Medical Center, for example, said her hospital security “combines drills, training, technology and parent education.” They also train staff to look for possible abductors, who are “usually an overweight, inquisitive woman who wants a child or recently had a miscarriage.”
She also says to stay away from doing public announcements about the birth of your baby. Think that includes constant tabloid reports?

Wow, what a scary thought. I’m glad they are doing the drills.

Isn’t it? I didn’t realize it was a regular thing for hospitals to do. How sick is it to have to worry that someone will steal your new baby!
